The Spurgeon Fellowship

Spiritual motivation.

Theological perspective.

Evangelistic passion.

Social zeal.

Insightful counsel.

Forward-looking leadership.

These are just a few of the daunting expectations of a man called to preach in the pastoral ministry. And statistics don’t lie. 1500 men leave the pastoral ministry every month, never to return, for reasons other than health or moral failings. The weight and burden of the office is crushing too many men. By God’s grace, we want to see that statistic change.

To address these issues, Grace Covenant Church, in partnership with Dr. Art Azurdia and Western Seminary, is excited to announce The Spurgeon Fellowship...a fraternity of ministers devoted to seeking the wisdom of classical pastoral theology for contemporary church ministry.

Drawing upon the gifts of experienced practitioners and theologians, The Spurgeon Fellowship aims to enhance the personal character and professional competency of pastors, and thus, by means of Word and Spirit, contribute to the reformation and revival of local congregations across eastern Washington.

It is the prayer of TSF leadership that these events will effect a renewal of pastoral ministry by setting forth a counter-cultural vision of this high calling to preach...one that is God-exalting, Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, Scripturally-driven, and missionaly-minded.

The format of TSF is simple...two lectures with lunch provided in between. We understand the pressures and time constraints pastors are under...that's why our format is short, sweet, and free! No other agenda, no other purpose, no other commitment; come, be served, be encouraged, be challenged, eat a free lunch, enjoy some good fellowship, and be gone!

So it is with great pleasure that the elders of GCC extend a warm welcome to all pastors, along with an earnest invitation to join our “Band Of Brothers.”  It is our prayer that you will find The Spurgeon Fellowship to be a means of grace by which our Lord increases your joy as you labor for Christ and His gospel.  To find out more about the 2010-11 event schedule, check out the brochure here.  To hear lectures given from previous seasons, check here.
